Carlos 130 Brandy

It takes time to create something remarkable.

This 130th anniversary edition owes its character to the unprecedented emptying of two historic butts that form part of the founding solera, and the distillates aged over decades that master blender, Ignacio Lozano, has contributed from his private collection. All to create a brandy that conquers that passage of time.

The legacy of 130 years of history.

Carlos I Gran Reserva Brandy

The story of Carlos I dates back to 1889 when, in the city of Jerez, a cellar master found some forgotten barrels in the corner of his cellar. Neither the cellar master nor anyone else knew where they came from but he realised they contained the most amazing brandy he’d ever tasted. He called it Carlos I to honour a great conqueror.

Production begins with a selection of the best Airén grapes, distilled in old pot-stills, before ageing in American oak casks that previously contained the finest wines from Jerez, old Amonitllados and Olorosos, producing an extraordinary brandy.

Carlos I has a deep, amber colour, with gold accents, it is intensely aromatic with notes of vanilla and cocoa, with great balance, complexity and length on the palate.

Osborne 103 Solera Reserva Brandy

103 is named after the number of days spent at sea, without touching dry land, by Hernando de Magallanes and Juan Sebastian El Cano, during their round-the-world adventure, which began in 1519.

103 Solera Reserva starts with a careful selection of wines, distilled in Osborne’s own distillery, founded in 1880. Through careful, artisanal distillation, different styles of rich eaux-de-vie are produced, these are then aged in American oak, Sherry-seasoned casks through the traditional Criaderas and Solera system.

103 Solera Reserva is intensely aromatic on the nose, with hints of nuts and aromas of spicy oak, and flavours of cocoa and vanilla.
